John has been a member of the Irish Institute of Learning and Development, L&DI, (formally The Irish Institute of Training and Development, IITD), since 1996. After enrolling in the IITD Diploma in Training and Development he became involved in the local IITD Chapter and held a number of posts on IITD’s National Council including Chapter Chair, Education Officer and Honorary Treasurer. In 2007 John became a Fellow of IITD for his contribution to the profession and was elected President of IITD for two years in 2008. As President he represented IITD members on the FÁS Excellence Through People Approvals Board and again served as acting President for six months in 2011.
